The BaoFeng UV-5R HT dual-band handheld radio operates in the VHF and UHF bands. It supports communication with a transmit power of up to 5 W and features a full DTMF keypad and a dual LCD display, allowing for direct frequency entry and management of 128 channels stored in memory.
The system allows for programming parameters both directly from the keypad and via a computer. The device features a Dual Watch function, which enables simultaneous monitoring of two different frequencies, and a VOX system for activating transmission via voice commands. CTCSS/DCS codes ensure privacy and minimize interference.
The radio is also equipped with a 1750 Hz tone generator, a built-in LED flashlight, and an FM radio module operating in the 65-108 MHz range. Flexible frequency step selection allows the radio to be tuned to operating conditions. Power is provided by a 7.4 V Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh. The antenna with an SMA-Female connector is unscrewable, allowing it to be removed for transport or replaced with a different model.
The radio features a standard 2-pin Kenwood accessory connector, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of headsets and microphone-speakers. Its compact size and weight allow for convenient carrying in tactical pants pockets or pouches on gear.
