A lightstick is a unique light source that does not
need batteries or fire. It is very light
and efficient.
An infrared illuminating version, visible
for example with night vision devices.

Chemical lights can be used to mark
positions during a night hike, illuminate the immediate
surroundings, as an alarm signal, or as an emergency
light source.

To start the glow process, bend the stick with the thumbs
of both hands until the inner vial breaks,
and then shake it. This combines
chemical substances that, using the phenomenon
of luminescence, produce light of a specific color,
depending on the dye. This phenomenon is unique
in that no heat is generated during the entire process.

The luminescence process in chemical lights can
be slowed down by placing the lightstick in the freezer.
This should make the light glow for even two nights.
