The kefiya sling, commonly known as an arafat, from Mil-Tec. It is made entirely of cotton and features delicate patterns that characteristically stand out throughout the fabric. The all-cotton construction allows for air exchange, plus its weight is relatively low. Its primary use is to protect against excessive sunlight during the day and to warm the neck at night.

Traditionally, the sling is associated with face cover during sandstorms, but beyond that, it can be used as a head covering, a bandana, or a scarf. The sling at the edge of the fabric has a fringed finish. These act as an uneven edge, which strengthens the fabric and also allows for easier grasping when tying it.
