Helikon - M65 Jacket - Woodland - KU-M65-NY-03
The classic M65 military jacket as issued by Helikon. Introduced by the US Army in the mid-1960s and fully popularized a decade later. Its design embraces the tenets of tactical operations, but this practicality is also applicable to everyday civilian use. The most important features of any M65 jacket are the canvas outer fabric, removable liner and stand-up collar with retractable hood.
The Helikon edition of the M65 jacket uses DuraCanvas fabric which is a polyester/cotton blend with a touch of elastane. The lining is fully polyester. This combination creates a solid shell against the wind, and will even allow you to function reasonably during winter temperatures. During transitional periods, the lining can be easily removed by undoing it from the buttons.
The jacket uses a standard zipper, which can be covered by a snap button flap. The hood and hem of the jacket can be tightened with strings. The collar and cuff of the sleeves can be fastened with a Velcro patch. The jacket has a total of four pockets, two on the chest and two on the hips, one of each type, respectively, on each side. They can easily fit compact waterproof notebooks.
