The BaoFeng UV-17E handheld radio has a transmission power of 5 W and operates on two frequency bands: VHF and UHF. The device is equipped with a dual LCD display and a DTMF keypad, allowing for direct frequency entry and management of system functions.

The 130 x 60 x 34 mm housing meets the IP54 rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water splashes. The radio offers 99 programmable channels and a communication range of up to 10 km under favorable terrain conditions.

The Dual Watch function allows simultaneous monitoring of two different channels, while the VOX system enables voice-activated transmission. CTCSS/DCS codes ensure privacy and minimize interference. The design also features a built-in flashlight and an FM radio module operating in the 66-108 MHz range.

Power is supplied by a 7.4 V Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh, which allows the device to operate for up to 15 hours. Charging is done via an integrated USB-C port. The radio is equipped with a detachable antenna with an SMA-Female connector and a Kenwood K1 (2-pin) accessory jack, allowing for the connection of external headsets or microphone/speakers.
